iPaper reviews The Swan, Southwold

Britain’s Best Seaside Stays

The Swan is named ‘one of the stand-out places to stay’ in Southwold

Aoife O’Riordain, journalist at iPaper, counts down her 10 favourite seaside stays including The Swan, Southwold. O’Riordain describes our flagship hotel as ‘an old-meets-new look masterminded by hip design and architectural firm Project Orange.’ Read what else she had to say about her visit to Southwold.

“Southwold is one of the Suffolk coast’s much-loved seaside getaways, with a skyline dominated by the snowy-white, working lighthouse and views of the broad expanse of the North Sea stretching out towards the horizon.

It might not have views of the sea, but this 17th-century hotel is one of the stand-out places to stay, right in the heart of town but moments from the beach. Late last year it completed a revamp with an old-meets-new look masterminded by hip design and architectural firm Project Orange.

The 35 rooms are peppered throughout the inn and the garden next to the adjoining historic Adnams brewery and distillery.”
